South Sulawesi is the central distribution for business
activities to Eastern part of Indonesia. Its capital city Makassar is one of a
few Indonesia cities to embrace the sea, and renowned with its sea foods. In
terms of international trade, South Sulawesi is one of the most potential areas
for business and investment activities in Indonesia, because the area is well
suppoted with. Five stars hotels,banks,big hospital and now being growing as
metropolis city which is lately has attracted world class investors such as
Carrefour,Hyppermart, and Lippo Groups to invest in this Province. Also,
International Convention Centre which is called Celebes Convention Centre is
being built to facilitate international event in the Province.
A number of products from this Province has been China highly
demanded in foreign market particularly in developed country such USAJJapan,Australia,European
Countries,Asean and African Countries. The esporting commodities of South
Sulawesi spreads in various fields and so far lias been dominated by
agricultural products such as cocoa,coffee,cashew.coconutrice,etc. The other
commodities are marine products such as varieties of live and frozen
fishses,seaweeds,sea sheel buttons,sea cucumber shark fins,flying fish roes
eto.forest products such as gum copal,rattan furnitures,wooden items /
funiituries,and plywoods,mining products such as nickel mate,marbles,cement, etc,;
handicraft products such as silver, gold,
bronze, ikat textiles, silk, wood carving and sculpture s, terracotta and may
others.
